Carmela's Tour Of Italy - 1/23/2020

Greetings my friends and loyal patrons! (Saluti miei amici e patroni fedeli!)

Happy New Year! I can think of no better way to celebrate the start of a new year and a new decade than with another stop on our Carmela’s Tour of Italy! Please join me on Thursday, January 23rd as we visit the Piedmont.

The Piemonte, or Piedmont region, borders France and Switzerland, and sits at the foot of the Swiss Alps. It’s known for sophisticated cuisine and wines such as Barolo. The fact that Piedmont is the land of hamlets, castles, and rolling hills is a given. But the fact that the territory is also renowned for the world’s best hazelnuts and the precious Alba white truffle may be the best known fact of all.

This will be one of our most impressive destination dinners yet! As always, the menu has been designed to showcase foods that are unique to region of the Piedmont. Jeff Stone, Sommelier and I have carefully selected the wines to be paired with each course so that the food and the wine truly complement each other. Jeff will offer interesting education for you about each of the wines and all of the wines will be available for purchase.

As a special treat for the night, we will also be entertained by Jacob Andrew Moreland, an Opera Singer! Jacob is a Verdi Baritone with over 10 years of formal classical training. While at Liberty University, he performed with the Chamber Singers for 3 years and sang the roles of Guglielmo in Cosi Fan Tutte, Tonio in Pagliacci, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, and Don Bartolo in the Marriage of Figaro, while studying towards a Bachelor's of Arts in Vocal Performance. He currently is singing and occasionally leading worship at Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene.

I hope you will be able to join us for this amazing dinner with impressive wines and what is sure to be exciting entertainment.

Hope to see you here! (Spero di vederti qui!)

Ralph Palmisano
